Ken Ndala is a Senior Lecturer in Educational Planning, with extensive experience in theory and practice after having served in the Civil Service and Academia. Prior to joining the University of Malawi, Department of Education Foundation in 2003, Ken Ndala had 12 years of experience working as a Secondary School Teacher and Planning Officer at the Division and Central levels in the Ministry of Education. Later in 2015, he was seconded back to the Civil Service as a Director of Educational Planning to, among other assignments, lead a team of Planners in developing the Malawi Education Sector Improvement Project which has just been implemented in the Ministry of Education. Ken Ndala was then promoted to Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in 2017 and later moved to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and Ministry of Population, Planning and Social welfare as Principal Secretary. He was descended back to the University of Malawi. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2021 to 2022. As an expert in Educational Planning, Ken lectures Educational Planning and Finance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Educational Policy and Leadership at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Ken has coordinated Postgraduate Studies at the School of Education for 3 years and served as Acting Director for E-Learning Program at Chancellor College for 2 years. Currently, my research areas are Girls' Education, Inclusive Education, Financing of Education and Education Policy and Planning. Ken Ndala was awarded a Doctoral of Philosophy in Policy by the University of Witwatersrand in the Republic of South Africa and a Master of Education with specialization in Policy, Planning and Leadership by Massachusetts University, Amherst, in the USA. Ken also holds an International Diploma in Education Planning and Management from the International Institute of Education Planning (IIEP), a UNESCO institution. His undergraduate degree is Bachelor of Education (Science) with the University of Malawi, Chancellor College, obtained in 1991.
